LIFESTEPS Letter from the President

Letter from the President & CEO

Lifesteps has been providing programs and services to help people in Western Pennsylvania since 1923. Over its history, the Agency has evolved from our early days as Crippled Children’s Society and Easter Seals to today’s Lifesteps - a diversified agency serving children, families, adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and seniors. However, one thing has remained the same: our mission!

Helping individuals and families with life’s changing needs by developing programs and providing services which will improve their quality of life.

We are committed to carrying on this important mission that began so many years ago. Today, families are faced with many challenges such as: finding quality early care and education; overcoming developmental delays and Autism; coping with separation or divorce; supporting  adults with  intellectual/developmental disabilities; caring for aging parents; caring for those with Alzheimers; and other difficulties. To help families in need, Lifesteps continues to be committed to providing the highest quality services with the best possible standards–while focusing on the needs of the people in the communities we serve.

The Agency is focused on five key strategic directions that guide us. The strategic directions are Programs, Services and Assurance of Quality, Staffing, Sustainability,  Marketing, and Governance. Our plan for the future requires hard work, commitment, and all of our resources to be successful and to strengthen what has already been built.

With cutbacks in government funding and competition for the donor dollar…the continued need for support from individuals and businesses remains critical. More funding equates to more people receiving the support and services they need. Providing care along Life’s journey…that’s what we do, we make a meaningful impact in the lives and future of others.
